ด้วยการเป็นเจ้าภาพการประชุมผู้นำเขตเศรษฐกิจเอเปคของประเทศไทย ในวาระเดียวกันนี้ ประเทศไทยยังรับหน้าที่การเป็นเจ้าภาพการจัดประชุมครั้งสำคัญ ‘APEC CEO Summit 2022’ ระหว่างวันที่ 16-18 พฤศจิกายน 2565 ภายใต้แนวคิด‘Embrace Engage Enable’ เวทีสำคัญระดับโลกในการส่งเสริมความมั่งคั่งและการเติบโตของประชาชนและสังคมในเอเชียแปซิฟิกสู่การปรับปรุงสภาพแวดล้อมทางด้านการค้า การลงทุน ตลอดจนการแบ่งปันแง่มุมทางนวัตกรรม เพื่อเสริมสร้างการเติบโตร่วมกัน
APEC CEO Summit หรือการประชุมสุดยอดผู้นำภาคเอกชนของเอเปค นับเป็นการประชุมชั้นนำของผู้นำเศรษฐกิจเอเปคและผู้นำชุมชนธุรกิจระดับภูมิภาคและระดับโลกจาก 21 เขตเศรษฐกิจ ในการพบปะ อภิปราย แลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็น และมีส่วนร่วมกับผู้นำโลก เพื่อร่วมกันพิจารณาทั้งประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องและประเด็นที่เร่งด่วนในการส่งเสริมกิจกรรมทางเศรษฐกิจและสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยเป้าหมายของการประชุม คือการแสวงหาแนวทางการแก้ไขในประเด็นสำคัญระดับโลก ตลอดจนการจัดการกับความท้าทายที่ธุรกิจต่างๆ ในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิกและทั้งโลกกำลังเผชิญทั้งในยุคปัจจุบันและอนาคต
ดร.พจน์ อร่ามวัฒนานนท์ ผู้แทนหลักสภาที่ปรึกษาทางธุรกิจเอเปคประเทศไทย และประธาน APEC CEO Summit 2022 กล่าวถึงความสำคัญของเวทีประวัติศาสตร์ ที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นในในประเทศไทยครั้งนี้ว่า “ในฐานะประธานการจัดงาน เรามีความภูมิใจเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ที่ประเทศไทยได้รับหน้าที่เป็นเจ้าภาพการจัดประชุมของผู้นำทางธุรกิจและรัฐบาลที่ทรงอิทธิพลที่สุดในเอเชียแปซิฟิกอีกครั้งหลังจากปี 2003 นอกจากนี้ ยังเป็นการประชุมแบบพบปะกันเป็นครั้งแรกในรอบ 3 ปีหลังที่โลกเผชิญกับการแพร่ระบาดของโควิด 19 จึงนับเป็นบรรยากาศอันดี ที่ซีอีโอและผู้บริหารระดับสูงในแต่ละภาคธุรกิจ จะเดินทางเข้ามายังประเทศไทยเพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับความท้าทายระดับภูมิภาค และมีส่วนร่วมในการเจรจากับผู้นำเอเปค ซึ่งจะเป็นโอกาสทางการค้าและการลงทุนให้เกิดขึ้นทั้งต่อประเทศไทยและในระดับภูมิภาค
...ซึ่งแน่นอนด้วยว่า โอกาสครั้งสำคัญนี้ยังนับเป็นโอกาสอันดี ในการแสดงศักยภาพของภาคธุรกิจไทยสู่เวทีโลก ด้วยประเทศไทยเป็นประเทศที่มีเศรษฐกิจใหญ่เป็นอันดับ 2 ของเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ มีมูลค่าผลิตภัณฑ์มวลรวมภายในประเทศประมาณ 5 แสนล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ โดยที่ภาคเอกชนเป็นกลไกหลักในการเติบโตไม่ว่าการส่งออกกว่า 70% ของจีดีพี, การมีภาคอุตสาหกรรมที่แข็งแกร่ง (40% ของจีดีพี) และภาคบริการที่แข็งแรง (50% ของจีดีพี) โดยจุดแข็งของเราคืออุตสาหกรรมการท่องเที่ยวและบริการทางการเงิน (Tourism and financial services industries) ตลอดจนจุดแข็งด้านอาหาร ที่ไทยเรามีจุดเด่นด้านความมั่นคงของอาหารในเวทีโลกอีกด้วย”
หัวข้อสำหรับการประชุม APEC CEO Summit 2022 นี้ ได้แก่ Innovation, The Global Economy and the Future of APEC, Trade and Investment, Circular Economy in Practice, Digital Economy, Future of Work, Inclusive Growth, Healthcare after the Pandemic, และอื่นๆ โดยมีตารางกิจกรรมเป็นเวลา 3 วัน ซึ่งจะมีการแลกเปลี่ยนมุมมองและวิสัยทัศน์ทางธุรกิจร่วมกัน โดยนอกเหนือจากประเด็นที่น่าจับตาในการผลักดันทางเศรษฐกิจ ความพิเศษของการประชุมในปีนี้ คือมีกิจกรรมที่บุคคลผู้มีชื่อเสียงจากภาครัฐ เอกชน รวมทั้งผู้นำเอเปคหลายท่านขึ้นกล่าวสุนทรพจน์ในหัวข้อต่างๆ ที่กำลังเป็นประเด็นที่น่าสนใจและการประชุมครั้งนี้เป็นการประชุมแบบพบปะกัน ทำให้แสดงถึงสัญลักษณ์แห่งความมั่นใจของภาคเอกชนในการขับเคลื่อนโลกไปข้างหน้าอย่างมุ่งมั่นหลังการแพร่ระบาดของโควิดอีกด้วย

Thailand, which holds chairmanship of APEC 2022, is all set to host the APEC CEO Summit 2022 under the theme ‘EMBRACE ENGAGE ENABLE’. The global gathering, happening from November 16 to November 18 of 2022, will play a vital role in achieving a better economic growth, further social development and renewed well-being of the people in Asia Pacific, via a coordinated dialogue on such important topics as elevated trade system, investment landscape, and innovation.
The APEC CEO Summit is a premier gathering of chairpersons, CEOs and top business executives from the 21 economies comprising Asia Pacific, where they engage in dialogues with APEC leaders and discuss some of the most pressing issues crucial to the sustainable prosperity of the region. The purpose of this summit is to agree on identifying practical solutions to some of biggest challenges the world is facing today and will probably be facing in the future.
